Philadelphia The Documentary: Money, Murder and Politics
This is a trailer for what promises to be a longer documentary. Some of the footage appears to be from 52nd Street:
They don’t call it Killadelphia for nothing. The crime in Philadelphia “is at an all time high” and there doesn’t seem to be any real solutions in play. Hopefuly this documentary film will bring attention to the issue and motivate the birth of creative solutions to our seemingly hopeless problem. Current programs are not working and the focus is misdirected, in this game of Money, Murder & Politics.
Work like this walks a fine line between journalism and exploitation but maybe no more so than the local news. And judging by some of the interview footage, the filmmakers have some actual street cred whereas the local news anchors seem bent on proving they’ve got none. One of the interviews in the trailer is with Tone Trump, local to 52nd Street, who has been quite vocal in his anti-violence efforts. Overall, I think this film means well, and I hope there’ll be more to it soon.
Interesting and varied lineup of folks involved with this:
VentilationX: A skateboarding, parkour and breakdancing crew
2550.com: I guess this is a clothing company. Whatever it is, it’s “underground.”
Trak Blaza Films: This guy produced a new single for Gillie Da Kid called “Get Down on the Ground” which, oddly enough, takes its titular sample from the Coen Brothers film ” Raising Arizona.” Do the Coen brothers have a hip hop following?

THIS IS VERY VERY TALENTED WORK, IT DEPICTS SOME OF THE MINDSET OF OUR PEOPLE IN WHICH I BELIEVE IS IN A “SUBTLE” WAY..
THIS KIND OF MIND SET SETS US ALL BACK, AND IN THEORY CLASSIFIES THE MENTALITY OF ALL HOODS IN AMERICA THAT DEVELOPS INTO STEREO-TYPE OF ALL BLACK PEOPLE!

I feel as though the people in the clip that are proud to be a killadelphian, are quite simply lost, although I hope I am incorrect but they wont live long enough to see the error in their ways. Actually, they are probably so quick to welcome death because they see it as a means to escape the hell in which they see no way out of.

[...] achievement nonetheless. Still, more than 250 Philadelphians have been murdered this year. Back in November 2007, I posted a trailer for what appeared to be a longer documentary about murder in Philadelphia. [...]
