Malcolm X Park’s Walk Score

Phillybits points out that his Walk Score is 72 out of 100. Pretty neat!

What is Walk Score?

Walk Score helps people find walkable places to live. Walk Score calculates the walkability of an address by locating nearby stores, restaurants, schools, parks, etc.

Malcolm X Park’s Walk Score is 78 out of 100.

I plugged in a bunch of my former residences just for fun. My former home, Bella Vista in South Philly, rated a whopping 94. Just by a nose, my lifetime least walkable home–at a dismal 48–was during a brief stint in Wellfleet, MA on Cape Cod.

My home street got a score of 89. Not bad. I love this site! Thanks for the tip. Mind if I steal it?

I believe that walk score is cool, but nowadays more and more people prefer to drive cars. Homes are often located in an area where some establishments are easier to get to by car than on foot. I’ve recently found a type of service on Fizber which is called Drive Score. It shows a map of what establishments are in your neighborhood and calculates a Drive Score based on the number of places within a convenient driving distance.
