It’s worth exploring the website a little once you get past the intro Flash animation. Much of it is still “under construction” but it’s nevertheless a fascinating view on an ambitious effort to raise Liberia’s profile:
Liberia Fashion Week is an initiative launched to establish a top-notch fashion industry for Liberia by promoting aspiring and eminent fashion designers, models, artists and the development of Liberia’s textile. The first annual Liberia Fashion Week is scheduled to be held the week of December 17-23, 2007 in Monrovia, Liberia. In addition, a prelude to the Liberia event will be hosted in the Pennsylvania, PA USA the weekend of August 10-12, 2007 to celebrate this milestone and to enhance awareness amongst Liberians in Diaspora.
Tickets to the runway show, held at the Convention Center will be $20, the networking brunch, at Club Sikira is $15.
