Not Just an Easter Egg Hunt…

Volunteers from the Lucien Blackwell Regional Library on 52nd Street encouraged Easter Egg Hunt attendees to sign up for library cards. If you signed up or showed your library card, you were issued a ticket good for a free book!

The lines were very long for this table all day!

Last year, the Easter Egg Hunt in Malcolm X Park was reportedly the single largest source of new library card applications of any event in Philadelphia. It’s too soon to tell, obviously, for this year, but when you’ve got lines to get library cards and books, you’ve got a success on your hands.

Visit the Blackwell Regional Library when you get a chance. It’s on 52nd Street, right across Sansom St. from McDonald’s. In addition to the ample programming for kids, there are useful seminars for adults on Financial Planning (March 29th) and Resume Writing (April 2nd) as well. See the full calendar for more details.

These photos are great. Keep them coming. For my money, I can’t see enough photos of kids jumping in balls, signing up for library cards, getting balloon animals, etc. Seriously. Especially on a rainy day like today.
